Meeyan ella waterfall

  District : Kegalle Meeyan Ella is a waterfall with a deep history yet unknown to many. The waterfall lies along the railway line to Kandy near Ihalakotte railway station. The stream which creates the Meeyan Ella waterfall originates from a place called Helan-Madiththa on the Alagalla mountain. Originally the waterfall fell as a single stream over an rock and flowed over the villages of Walagoda and Thalagolla, joining Thalagolla Oya. Thalagolla Oya then gets connected to Ma Oya in Boella. But today the waterfall drops as two steams  with a gap of about 50 meters along two artificially cut grooves on the rock surface. How this once a mighty waterfall became two small waterfalls is an interesting story. Knuckles Mountain Range

 Knuckles range also called Dumbara mountain range is located off Kandy, in the northern end of Central Highlands of Sri Lanka. To the south and east of the mountain range is Mahaweli river basin while to the west are Matale plains. Access to Knuckles Range The trekkers’ favorite approach to Knuckles ranges begins on A26 main motor way running east of Kandy to Hunnsgiriya. At Hunnasiriya, B grade road leads to the Corbett’s Gap which opens up magnificent views of Knuckles range. From Corbett’s Gap the road that leads to the village of Meemure too can be travelled by a vehicle having good ground clearance. The trekkers also have options in two more entry roads: from Matale via Rattota and Riversten; from Wattegama via Panwila. Alagalla mountain range

 Alagalla Mountain Range in brief Alagalla Mountain Range, also known as “Potato Mountain Range” and translates to “Tuber Rock” in English, is situated at the border of the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces. It is situated in Mawanella. The mountain has been used as a defense location against the Portugese, Dutch and English who tried to surrender Kandy. This mountain range is surrounded by Uthuwankanda, Bathalegala which is also known as Bible Rock, Ambuluwawa, Devanagala, Knuckles Mountain Range and Hanthana Mountain Range. The mountain doesn’t attract much of a crowd although it is great for hiking. There are two routes to get here, one being via Pilimathalawa which is easier to climb and the other being the Gangoda station route which is great for a challenging hike. Hulangala mountain peak

 There are many places in Sri Lanka called 'Lokanthaya' which have beautiful mountain peaks and Navgala or Hulangala mountain peak is a tourist destination with such a doomsday. The ancients also referred to this hill as "Navgala" with two peaks that look like a sailboat from a distance.  Hulangala is located in the southern part of the Knuckles Range in the Salagama Estate in the Kurunegala District. Although the top of the Hulangala hill is located on the border of the Kurunegala district, the lower part of the slope belongs to the Matale district. Therefore, it is possible to reach this beautiful place from Kurunegala or Matale.  Hulangala Punchi Lokantha is located at an altitude of 760m (2500 ft) above sea level and Hulangala Kanda on the right is 1025m (3360 ft) above sea level.  If coming by vehicle, you can reach Hulangala by traveling from Kurunegala to Dambulla towards Thalgodapitiya Junction and following Yatawatta Road.
